Palpation – Knee flexed at 90 degrees WebTest the active range of movement of each knee, remembering to start with the “good” knee. Flexion: Ask the patient to bring their heel towards their buttocks. Expect an acute angle of 40° or lesser. Extension: Ask the patient to completely extend their knee. Their limb should lie flat at 180°, however <10° extra of hyperextension can be normal.
