The virus destroyed his hippocampus bilaterally (as well as surrounding areas). He retained the ability to play the piano and conduct a choir (which he did previously to his illness). WebClive Wearing is very similar to the famous case of HM (Henry Molaison). However, whereas HM’s hippocampus was damaged due to surgery, Wearing’s was damaged due to an illness.
